Nemanja Zdravkovic is a photographer, originally from Belgrade, Serbia, now based in Chicago. He is originally coming from Serbia, Belgrade where he graduated at from the College of IT and Electro-Engineering, but very soon he chose photography as his profession. His interests in history, art, architecture, and people inspire his he starts expressing himself through photography. In the last ten years he has taken part in a numerous photography workshops in Europe, such as the Magnum Press Conference in Paris, the Imre Szabo workshop in his studio in Serbia, the Belgrade and the World Press Photo workshop in Belgrade, led by photographer Brendan Bannon from Buffalo, New York.
Before moving to Chicago in 2015, Nemanja taught photography classes and courses in Belgrade and completed the documentary project “Rebirth” about Serbian refugees, a piece of which is published in “The World Around Us” (a photo essay book sponsored the Youth Center CK13). He also contributed to the Serbian magazine “Lice Ulice.” Inspired with by his new environment in Chicago, he has started the new projects “To the Unknown Main” in March 2015 and “Walking Aaround” in December 2017.
Since beginning his work in analogue photography, he has become interested in the juxtaposition of poetic and documentary styles. His work focuses on ordinary, visible moments, giving them importance and instrumentality in everyday life. He is currently exploring the aesthetic possibilities of Medium Format.
